Both civil and criminal disputes up to Rs 3 lakh are settled in village courts.
Disputes are settled in a short time, low cost and very easily in the village court.
Both the petitioner and the defendant can appoint a judge of their choice.
The petitioner and the defendant cannot easily conceal anything as the evidence is at hand.
Speedy settlement makes it less likely to arise from one dispute to another.
As the dispute is settled through compromise in the village court, the applicant and the defendant maintain their self-relationship.
Justice is available in exchange for a criminal case fee of Rs 10/- and a civil case fee of Rs 20/-.
Appointment of lawyers banned in village courts
